DALOY SHINES AT MISS UNIVERSE PH 2023
Unearthing (Taiwan, 2023)
The process of Unearthing began eight years ago, when the piece was commissioned as part of Sipat Lawin’s Karnabal Festival for Social Performance Innovation and developed subsequently over the next two years in festivals and performance series around Manila and across Japan. The work is a choreographic exploration into the relationship between the carnal and the spiritual, the sacred and the sexual.
Through intuitive movement investigations into first the sensuous, then the ecstatic, and finally, the mythic; Ea Torrado and Daloy’s corps of dancers have assembled a fierce and primal homage to the filipino babaylan (the balance-bringing shaman-priestess) and to the ancient wisdom of the Sacred Feminine. The dance pushes pleasure forward unabashedly, pulling the dancers through a tantric spectrum of frenzied somatic release.
Unearthing transforms performance into community ritual, foregrounding the social being as a sacred being.
Performances: 2015 KARNABAL Social Performance Innovation, 2016 Dance MNL Festival, 2016 Mga Sayaw ng Paghilom Festival , 2016 Setouchi Trienalle, Asian Performing Arts Market, Japan, 2019 Asian Federation of Arts Venues, and Manila Performing Arts Market at Blackbox Theatre, The Cultural Center of the Philippines

ItikLandia
In this dance theatre piece brought to life by Daloy Dance Company under the visionary direction of Ea Torrado, this production takes inspiration from the traditional Filipino folk dance "Itik-itik," then uses it to honor our shared connection to the natural world.
Daloy DC pushes boundaries, drawing from the profound heritage of Philippines Folk Dances, written by Francesca Reyes-Aquino. Daloy prompted profound reflections on humanity's role in nature and the indelible imprints we leave behind. 'ItikLandia' sparks introspection on development (for the sake of development), gentrification, and displacement.
This production, which also included engaging workshops by Malaya Arguelles for year 8 students at the British School Manila, serves as a testament to the transformative power of theatre, as it transports us to a realm where magic and meaning intertwine.
Babae
A 30min Solo work inspired by the "masterpiece of strangeness”, Mary Wigman’s Witch Dance.
Raised and classically trained in Germany, Joy examines inherited vocabularies, reconfiguring what it means to summon the power and mystical practices of woman as witch.
Combining her roots in Philippine folk dance, classical/ contemporary training and vocabulary of hip hop and voguing, BABAE is a one woman interplay between the animalistic and sensual qualities of ritual and power.
